I was so sad to read in the paper today (September 20th.), that Dave had passed away. Dave was a dear friend and together, we shared a lot of funny memories and laughter. Those times when we joked and laughed the most was when we went on those wilderness, so called, fishing trips. I will always remember that one time when I noticed Dave walking from the lake up to our camp site carrying a fish. He had just landed a 5 inch Yellow Perch after having fished all day. Dave was talking to himself in a language that only is spoken at times like this and it didn't help when I showed him my 17 inch brook trout.
To all of Dave's family may I express my sincere condolences and thanks for Dave's friendship.
With Greatest Respect,
Glen Rhodenizer

Angela & family,
If you saw Dave out in public there was always a big smile and a wave to come over and chat. If you didn't see him there was his tap on your shoulder. Then the inevitable story - with notable enthusiasm! I'll miss that. Dave was a good guy.
May your memories bring you peace.
Sincerely,

Angela, it is with the deepest regret that I learned today of Dave's passing. I have so many fond memories of him both during our service in the RCMP where we were stationed together on several locations and when he left for the Chiefs job in Bridgewater and I to Fredericton. Of course later as Chiefs of Police we again passed path, perhaps a bit more sedately.
My deepest condolences to you and your family.

This morning I was saddened to see Dave's obituary in the paper. I first met Dave many years ago when he was a rookie with the RCMP and I was a rookie with the Halifax Police Department. Dave was one of the lead members of the RCMP and was driving his motorcycle laying with his chest on the seat and his arms out like and angel leading the parade. He sure was a crowds pleaser. We had dinner together that day and that was the beginning of our friendship. He was a well respected member of the RCMP and his smile was contagious. To you Angela I send my deepest sympathy. I have lost a good friend. You are in my prayers.

Dear McGinnis Family,
My wife Gene and I send our sincere condolences on the death of David. I am
very sorry to be unable to attend the funeral today because of a previous commit-
ment to preach in my own church in Wolfville, where I am a member.
I grew up with David in Fredericton, and played street hockey with him. I also
enjoyed swimming with him in the summers at Lake George. I also remember his
sister Anne and his parents, Doris and Gerald. David and I used to attend
each other's birthday parties, and we were good friends. It was wonderful to
read in his obituary the great things he was able to accomplish in his career.
Angela, may God, our loving heavenly Father, draw near to your whole family at
this difficult time.
With loving sympathy and prayers,

Dear Angela, Kim, Jill, Chris and Kevin and The McGinnis Family members, please know that The Bolivar Family is with you and the ALL the McGinnis Family during this time. Dave is a fantastic husband, a wonderful father and such a great, genuine person. Dave always made me feel welcome at his home, Green Bay Cottage, his office and took the time to chat and speak to me and others. I still remember the great roads trips for Hockey when Coach Dave drove that old "BlueBird" Bus to the games on the harsh NS roads, my self and all the players truly appreciated that. What a Fantastic coach he was, best dressed as well. He was one of the few guys around with that Class of License. In my teen aged years, Chief Dave gave me invaluable advise and support during some one on ones. I will continue to pass on his precious life advice to my son, daughter and the young hockey players I coach. Thank you Dave. Along with your family and friends, there is no question that The Policing Community and the Town of Bridgewater will greatly miss such an ICON who has made such an impression on the people around him. God Bless. Brian Bolivar, Calgary, Alberta

Angela and Family,
I, humbly, wish to extend my deep sympathy to Angela and the family for your precious loss of Dave.
Although I may not have known Dave well, I was close enough to Dave to understand why he is so very much missed. I'm certain the world is a much better place because he was here for a time. I'm sorry that I must be at the Great Scots' annual reunion in Winsor on Saturday. I will try to be back on Sunday in time to join you in offering my respect. Please allow me to offer this prayer which I try to follow.
Great Spirit whose voice I hear in the winds
and whose breath gives life to all in the world,
Hear me. Give me protection and guidance.
I am small and I am weak and I need your
strength and your wisdom. Let me walk in
beauty and let my eyes ever behold the red
and purple sunsets that you have created
with me. Make my hands respect the things
that you have made and my ears sharp to
hear your words and your voice. Let me
learn the lessons that you have hidden
under every rock and leaf. I seek strength,
not to be greater than my brother, but to
fight my greatest enemy-myself. Make me
always ready to come to you with clean
hands and straight eyes so that when my
life fades as the fading sunset, my spirit
can come to you without shame. And, thank
you mother earth for allowing me to walk
upon your breast yet another day.
Be strong,
Bill Schnare
