Obituary of Gilbert Lester Hirtle

HIRTLE, Gilbert Lester – Age 89, Dublin Shore, Lunenburg Co., passed away on September 30, 2017 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater surrounded by his loving family. Born August 19, 1928 on Hirtle’s Island, he was a son of the late James Ralph and Mae Orene (Powers) Hirtle. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ola Myrtice Publicover; daughter, Kristine Louise Hirtle, Cherry Hill; son, Cory Joseph (Kimberley), Dublin Shore; grandchildren, Marielle Guerrero, Krista, Carson and Cameron Hirtle; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, IzahGairdino, Marjorie Selig and twin sisters in infancy, Rosabelle and Clarabelle; brothers, Dawson, Mansfield and Byron.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Tuesday evening in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, in Knox Presbyterian Church, Dublin Shore. Rev. Robert Seamen officiating. Private family interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, West Dublin.
