I was so sorry to hear of Ian’s passing, please accept my condolences. It has probably been 25 years since I last saw Ian and his obituary describes him just as I remember him. I remember him coaching soccer and feeling like we were learning real soccer (his Scottish accent adding more credibility to all of his instruction). I remember staying with the Murray’s on our last day in Bridgewater and feeling at home in their home. I remember Ian and my dad laughing while dad called Glen “Little Auchtermuchty” at hockey. I remember seeing him at social events before I left Halifax and he would always check in to see how I was doing.
I always looked forward to seeing Ian and know that he will be missed by many. My thoughts are with your family in this difficult time.

To the Murray family
We were saddened to learn of Ian's recent passing and send along our sympathy and condolences.While we didn't know Ian for a long time,we met at John&Jessie's place in Coldbrook where we had great chats about Fife and of course hockey and Glen's career..we had a mutual friend in New Glasgow,Lawrence MacDougall who Ian used to call on..
Being a Piper I will play a 'Flowers of the Forrest' to his memory at our cottage here on Caribou Island.

I got to know Ian from him coming into Petro Canada where I worked. There was a small group of guys, and Ian who would come in mid morning for a coffee and a scratch ticket. They would talk and joke for an hour or more pretty much on a daily basis. I would carry on with the guys there and Ian and I would jab back and forth. That continued outside of work when I would see him at a Lumberjacks game or out shopping with his wife. I see many people throughout my work day, but there are a few regulars who I enjoy seeing and carrying on with. I would have never admitted this to Ian as he would not have let me forget it. I am going to miss our banter, it will not be the same. My condolences to his wife, his children, his grandchildren and all other loved ones he left behind. He was a wonderful person and he will be missed by all of us at Petro.
