Obituary of Calvin Brinson

Brinson, Calvin Dan - It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dan Brinson, age 66 of Wentzells Lake.  Dan passed after a courageous battle with cancer, on November 4th 2018 at the Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Harry and Violet (Elliott) Brinson, Born September 5, 1952 of Change Island, NL.

Although there are many things that come to mind when thinking of Dan, he was an unrivalled crib player who added points so quickly, that no one could question. He loved to travel.  When winter came, rest assured he would message you from far and away.  He had a wonderful passion for food that some would dare to compare, especially those fortunate enough to try his  succulent prime rib. And, he was adventurous, he was always looking for the next challenge, the next thrill, the next experience, the next new beginning.

He is survived by his son, Shayne (Amanda) Brinson; daughter, Danielle (Patrick) Brinson; brothers, Dawson Brinson; Tony (Dauphne) Brinson; Paul (Missy) Brinson; sister, Judy (Eric) White; stepmother, Netta (Alcock) Brinson, and Auntie Geraldine Brinson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chloe and Logan Brinson, Hayden and Reegan McCarthy.

A special thanks to his friends at the Lahave River Yacht club for keeping the dream alive, he always wanted to sail the Atlantic.  A big thanks to Ashley for the special care in Halifax, Netta for always preparing a taste of home, Orval for being by his side, John for the property management, and the wonderful support received by family and friends, the local VON, and Dr. Gowan and her team.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 17th, 2018 from 2-4pm. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater.
