Obituary of Sylvia Faye MacKay

Sylvia Faye MacKay- Age 80, Falkland Ridge, died at home on November 18, 2020. Born in Union Square, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Bessie (Wagner) Veinot.

She taught school in Watford and Elmwood and later as a substitute teacher at New Germany Elementary School.  She had taken an active part in St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the New Germany Parish for most of her life. She was also an active member in the Union Square Cemetery Committee, the Union Square Community Hall Committee and enjoyed her time with the NGRHS Alumni Committee. She had a keen interest in her ancestry and has accumulated a wealth of information, much of which she could recite as soon as someone mentioned a name.

Surviving is her partner Douglas Lowe, who was at her side and cared for her to the very end; sister, Venita (Moyle) Naas; brother Sherman; daughter Charlene (Tim); sons Todd, Trevor and Sheldon (Janette); grandchildren Daniel MacKay and Anthony Lowe and great grandchildren Gaven Lowe. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Theodore MacKay; her sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Eugene MacKay; brother Merle and half-brother Murray Ellwood in infancy.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A small graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Monday, November 23rd at 10:00am at the Union Square Cemetery. Rev. Catherine Robar officiating.  No flowers by request.
