It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ches at the age of 99.  Born in Little Harbour, Shelburne Co., he was the son of the late Roy Arnold and Bethina Winifred (Hemeon) Matheson.  He was a medic in WWII. Following his service in the Army, he had a long and rewarding career with Nortel in Montreal for 40 years.  He was a member of the Montreal West United Church, the Oddfellows, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He will be sadly missed by his wife Ruby of 74 years, children Audrey Matheson (Chas) of Lahave; Marsha Matheson, Bridgewater; Gerald (Cindy), Nine Mile River; grand children, Myranda Miller Halifax; Robyn and Liam Matheson Halifax; great grandson Simon, Halifax.  He was predeceased by brother Gerald Matheson, sisters Vera Wilton and Myrtle Purdy.  We will miss your humour and remember the vision of you sitting in your favorite chair.  Thanks go out to Dr. Livingstone, Dr. Robertson and the entire nursing staff of the 3rd and 4th floor SSRH for their compassion, support, and kindness.  You are in our hearts and memories forever.  By request, there will be no visitation or service at this time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater where online condolences and donations may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
