Obituary of Judy Gertrude Lohnes
LOHNES, Judy Gertrude (Ernst) – Age 64, of Upper Northfield, passed away on February 24, 2022, at home after a short battle with cancer and surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Rita (Slauenwhite) Ernst.
Judy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them every free moment she had. Her love of animals always had her adding to the family. She also enjoyed her flower gardens and was always adding new ones spending countless hours in them. Judy worked at West Northfield Elementary School, in the cafeteria, where she worked beside her close friend, Fran. She enjoyed her job immensely and looked forward to going in everyday. The highlight of her day was seeing her grandson at school. Judy also volunteered at the local Sunday school.
Judy had a heart of gold. She looked forward to spending as much time as possible with her grandson, Luke, who was the light of her life. They spent many hours playing together in the snow, biking, swimming, and crafting. She will be greatly missed by him and all her family.
Judy is survived by her husband, Brian; sons, Wendell (Anedra) Lohnes, of Upper Northfield, Jamie Lohnes, of Alberta; brothers, Clarence (Tony) Ernst, of Bridgewater, Rex (Susan) Ernst, of Bridgewater; sister, Shirley (Stewart) Daphine, of Bridgewater; brother-in-law, Bruce Whynot; grandson, Luke Lohnes; and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her parents; son, Neil Lohnes; and sister, Marjorie Whynot.
No flowers by the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or SHAID Tree Animal Shelter. A public memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26, at 1pm in Sweeny's Bridgewater chapel, 35 York St. A private family graveside service will be held in Hillside Cemetery immediately following the memorial service, a public Celebration of Life for Judy will be held at the Northfield Community Hall, following the private graveside committal service.
