Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Emil. She was also predeceased by her father Stanley McGill, mother Vivian, brother Saville, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Rudy Migay.

An avid reader with an empathetic and loving personality, Shirley was a natural caregiver at heart. She became a registered nurse but put that career aside to raise four children (including twins). Shirley devoted her life to her family, whether it was spending time in the kitchen creating delicious food, hosting sleepovers for grandchildren, or making time for long chats on the phone. “Do onto others as you would have them do to you” was her mantra, and she was true to this way of thinking. Her signature flair for style and warm and caring smile will be fondly remembered.

Thank you to the staff at Ridgewood Assisted Living and as well as Dr Timothy Riding for all of their compassion and professional care over the past four years.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater.  At the family’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.  Online condolences and donations may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
