Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Nelson

NELSON (CAMPBELL), Mary Elizabeth “Liz” - Age 81, of Sherbrook Lake, NS. With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother on June 12, 2022, in the South Shore Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Trenton, ON, on June 30, 1940 to the Late Harold and Mary Campbell both school teachers in Trenton.

Proceeded by her two brothers, Douglas and Donald. She will be missed by her loving husband of 35 years, Douglas Alexander Nelson; sister, Margret Jean (Gerry) Deshaies. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, David (Marie) Abbott; daughter, Sandi (Rick) Hodder; stepdaughters, Teresa Nelson and Kim (Dan) Martin; grandchildren, Melissa, Cody, Kayla, Robert, Courtney and Sabrina; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Cohen, Landon, Jack, Harper, Zoey and Jace; many nieces and nephews.

Mom loved Line dancing, puzzles, feeding the birds, taking care of her many gardens and there was nothing more special to Liz than enjoying sunrises on the lake, scouring the beach for skipping rocks and hosting rock skipping competitions with her great-grandchildren. Mom will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny`s Funeral Home, New Germany. Cremation has taken place and by request, there will be no visitation and a private family funeral will be held in Trenton, ON. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. We would like to take the time to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on the 4th floor at South Shore Regional Hospital for the recent care she was given, you were all so kind and professional during this difficult time taking care of our mother.
