Obituary of Ina Edith Barrie
BARRIE, Ina Edith – age 90 of Bridgewater, passed away July 30, 2022, in Harbourview Haven Nursing Home, Lunenburg. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Edie James. Surviving is her daughter, Karen Bourgeois (Marc); Janet Barrie; son, Todd Barrie (Cindy); sister, Elsie; grandchildren, Jenna Bourgeois, Chad Bourgeois (Julie); Kayla Zinck (Kyle), Kyle Barrie; great- grandchildren, Noah, Easton and Ryder Zinck and Liam Bourgeois. Besides her husband, Doug Barrie, Ina was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Nort, Ted and Jack James. Mom was a wonderful cook and baker and was known in her family for her great dinner rolls. Ina worked as a medical secretary in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, was a fulltime mother in Brandon, Manitoba, and worked as a secretary in Port Hawkesbury. They moved to Sherwood Park, and in retirement, moved back to Nova Scotia to be close to their children and grandchildren. Mom was always active in the church and enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Guysborough County. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting, sewing, traveling, and cruising, and jigsaw puzzles. The harder the better. Ina always took great pride in her yard and garden and loved watching the birds. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. No visitation by request. A memorial Service will be held 2p.m., Saturday, August 6th in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Simon Davies officiating. Family flowers only please.
