Obituary of Ronald Allan Nogler
Nogler, Ronald Allan -Age 72 of Pleasantville. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Allan Nogler who passed away peacefully in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax on Sunday, January 22, 2023, with his family by his side. Born December 31, 1950, in Windsor, he was a son of the late Albert and Marie (Purvis) Nogler. Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years, Belinda (Campbell); daughters, Emily, Pleasantville; Laura, Bridgewater; four cherished grandchildren, Chase, Carter, Olivia, and Isaac; sisters, Betty (Vernon) Caldwell, Kingston; Carolyn (Rick) Green, Halifax; Cheryl Durham, Halifax; brothers, Paul (Ruth), Charlottetown, PEI; Danny (Sharon), Greenwood; Bob (Sarah), Conn's Mills; Scott (Angela), Wilmot; many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved sister, Connie (Craig) Quartermain.
Ron graduated from Middleton Regional High School. After graduating, he travelled to Ontario to work picking apples and tobacco. He had fond memories of the family he stayed with, and all the wonderful meals that were shared. He loved to travel and backpacked with a friend to Europe, staying in Hostels. They hiked to Spain, Portugal, and Monaco.
In 1974 he started work at Michelin in Bridgewater, retiring after 30 years. He also sold real estate part time for a few years. In 1979 he married Belinda, and they started their family in 1981, while also building his house. He was a family man and loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He loved to garden, always planting enough so he could give some away. He planted beautiful flowers from seeds he collected every fall. He had a passion for cooking and always had a soup or stew on the stove. Every summer he made more pickles and jams than we could eat, just so he could give to family and friends. He collected recipes and books to read and exchange with anyone looking for a recipe.
Ron was a very kind-hearted and thoughtful man. He would always say, “have a good day”, and make sure the car was cleared of snow and warmed up and have supper waiting when you got home. He always gave cards and gifts on occasions, even when you said not to. He did chores and didn’t mind doing dishes and laundry. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Even when he was ill, if anyone asked, he was fine. We will surely miss him and there will be a huge void in all our lives.
Special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater and the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Their care was above and beyond.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
