Obituary of Vittorio Paolo "Paul" Ferraina

Ferraina, Vittorio Paolo “Paul” - Age 83, Queensland. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Vittorio Paolo Ferraina on August 17, 2023. Paul died peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary. Paul was born on September 1, 1939, to the late Domenico and Rosina Ferraina in Catanzaro, Italy. He is survived by his only son, Dominic, daughter in law, Lori and his cherished grandson, Alex. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Mary Margaret “Marie” (Flanagan), beloved wife of 44 years. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Toto, Rosario and his sister, Marianna.

Paul spent his entire career of 64 years in the food service industry as a chef which he thoroughly enjoyed. His family and friends all got to enjoy his many dishes and concoctions at family gatherings which happened often. His career took him from Italy, to Scotland, to England, then eventually moving to Canada in 1976, where he has resided ever since. Besides his family, Paul’s passion was soccer and the community of Queensland. He loved spending time with his neighbours and up until a few years ago, could be found relaxing on one of the beautiful nearby beaches where he lived.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses from the 3rd and 8th floor of the Halifax Infirmary. The staff from floor 8.2 took such great care of Paul during his last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations in his memory be made to the Diabetes Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. There will be no visitation upon request. A family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 24 in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
