Marlene Tidd

Obituary of Marlene Ida Tidd

On December 19, 2023, Ida Marlene Tidd of Bridgewater passed away at the age of eighty-seven years. She was only ever known as Marlene and was the third child of Collins and Sadie (Corkum) Eisener. She was born in Farmington, NS and grew up in Scarsdale and then Union Square.

In 1957 she married the Rev. Perley Tidd. Together they had six children and lived in many places across eastern Canada. Marlene was a homemaker and a mother, a pastor’s wife, and a talented musician who lent her strong alto voice to the choirs of each church they attended. She opened her home to any travelling pastors or missionaries and showed great hospitality to anyone who needed it.

She loved all five of her grandchildren, making a point to talk to them and keep track of what they were doing and where they were at. She travelled everywhere from British Columbia to Colorado to visit her children and grandchildren. She also loved her great-grandchildren.

Marlene was pre-deceased by her parents, Collins and Sadie, and her siblings Ferne, Eldred, and Hildred, and her son Aaron. She is survived by her children Stephen (Barb), Joel, Joanna, Andrew (Carol) and Florence as well as her grandchildren, Joseph (Michelle), Matthew (Sara), Sam (Emily), Melody, and Jonathan (Lindsey). She is also survived by beloved siblings in-law, nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater.  A service honouring Marlene’s life will be held at Bridgewater Baptist Church on Thursday, December 28th at 11:00am. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice.  Online condolences and donations may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
