Obituary of Beatrice Muriel Durling

Beatrice Muriel Durling, 78, Simpson’s Corner, passed away peacefully at the South Shore Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 28th, 2024, just two days short of her 79th birthday.  Born in New Germany, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Susie (Crouse) Jodrey.  Beatie, as she was known to many, is survived by her husband of 64 years minus 10 days, Raymond Dale Durling; daughters Corinna (David Alexander) and Annette (John Conrad); son Cordell (Sandra Joudrey); grandchildren Rochelle (Zane Russell) and Ryan (Amanda Holdershaw); great-grandsons Braylan Russell and Caden Holdershaw; brother Winston (June). She was predeceased by infant son Todd; brother Glenwood; sisters Laurene (Harold Arenburg) and Merna (George Conrad); and beloved cat, Max. She loved camping in Pinehurst by the Lahave River and playing cards. She enjoyed attending the Bridgewater Exhibition especially when her cattle earned more ribbons than Raymond’s!  Beatie worked hard her entire life. She worked at a small restaurant in New Germany called the Ack Bar, Delong’s Egg Farm in Barss Corner and the New Germany Food Master/Red &  White/IGA/Freshmart.  Thanks so much to the doctors and nurses at the SSRH (ER and ICU) for their care and support during Beatie’s final days.  Donations may be made to the New Germany & Area Medical Centre, Rosedale Home for Special Care, the South Shore Regional Hospital, or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A private family service will be held at a later date.
