Obituary of Deborah Bertha Emelia Hamm

 

DEBORAH BERTHA EMELIA HAMM

May 21, 1949 – October 15, 2024

 

Deborah (Sarty) Hamm beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed peacefully surrounded by her immediate family at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia on May 21, 1949, Deborah was the vibrant loving presence in the lives of all who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family, her community, God and her church. Her greatest pleasure was raising her children and grandchildren. Being involved in may programs throughout her church and community, assisting people of all ages in any way she could.

Deborah was an avid collector, cardplayer and crafter who took great joy in road trips to unknown destinations, fishing, and acquiring antiquities and anything interesting that caught her eye.

Deborah was predeceased by her brother Raymound, Mother Lottie, Father Cecil as well as her first husband, Stanley and granddaughter, Kirsten.

She is survived by her husband, Karl Hamm and three children, David (Karen) Hamm, Melissa (Tony) Whynot, Nicole (Calvin) Laffin, and her brother, Paul Sarty.

Deborah was also a proud grandmother of five beautiful soles, Christopher (Christy) Gatto, Megan (Cuauhti) Olguin, Jessie Laffin, Cameron Whynot and Liam Whynot; and five great-grandchildren, Keeley, Kylen, Zenith Hazel and Sullivan.

Please join us in celebrating Deborah’s life. Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Bridgewater Open Bible Church, 310 Jubilee Road, Bridgewater.  For a live stream of the service please go to www.bobc.ca
