Francis Keats
90, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., formerly of Grand Falls - Windsor, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 11, 2002 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. He was born in Newman’s Cove, Nfld, and moved to Grand Falls – Windsor in his younger years where he took up employment with the Anglo-Newfoundland Development Co (A&D Pulp & Paper Co), later known as Abitibi Price until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying gardening, picking berries, hunting, fishing and rabbit snaring. After his wife predeceased him several years ago, he moved to New Germany where he resided with his daughter and her husband. Francis enjoyed the country setting and many friends he had in New Germany. He also had a great affection for animals and in particular his cat. Surviving are his daughter, Linda (Dale) Veinot, New Germany, brothers, Cyril (Ursula) Keats, Revelstoke, BC; Bert (Dorothy) Keats, Newman’s Cove, Nfld. Sisters, Annie (Raymond) Baker, Newman’s Cove, Nfld; Dorothy Bannister, Grand Falls, Nfld. Granddaughters Ann (James) Barnes, Orlando, Fla; Dawn (Adrian) Hearn, Truro, great grandson Benjamin Hearn. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys Marie (Poole), brothers, James Grand Falls – Windsor; John, Newman’s Cove, Nfld. Arrangements under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, #4895 route 10, New Germany. Visitation will be at the Central Funeral Homes, Grand Falls, Nfld.. Funeral will be held at the Memorial United Church, Rev. Helen Ford officiating, burial will follow in the Interfaith Cemetery, Grand Falls, Nfld.
