Alan Craig Russell
66, Beaver Bank passed away peacefully at the QEII, VG Site, Halifax on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, with his family by his side. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Hallet and Seamona “Mona” (Ramey) Russell. Alan retired from the Department of Lands and Forests/Natural Resources in 1996 after 31 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 45 years, Joan Phyllis (Trethewey); his loving daughters, Kimberley Ann (Dennis) Pitts, Beaver Bank; Denise (Rene) Saulnier, Lower Sackville; sister, Betty Ann Merriam, Middleton; brother, Lindsay (Pauline Woodworth), Victoria Vale; sister in law, Faye Russell, Bible Hill; the pride and joy of his life, his three grandchildren, Devin, Laura, Beaver Bank; Connor, Lower Sackville. Alan is predeceased by brothers, Ray and Winton. Our family would like to thank Dr. Lori Wood, Pat Chatterton, the Palliative Care team, VON and all the other medical professionals who were so compassionate in helping to make our beloved Alan comfortable during his illness. No visitation at the funeral home by request. A celebration of Alan’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 12, in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. Rev. Juanita Barteaux officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church.
