Obituary of Linda Marie Shay

Linda Marie Shay, BSc, CHRP, RPT, CMP 63 of Dartmouth, formally of Bridgewater NS, passed away suddenly at home on April 20, 2012. Born July 11 1948 in Liverpool, Queens Co. Linda was a daughter of Margaret (Mansfield) Shay, Oliver BC, and the late Earle Palmer Shay. Besides her mother she is survived by her husband Ralph Giffin, Dartmouth; Daughter Kristi (Matt) Drennan, Selkirk MB; Sons, Kevin (Ellen) Wentzell, Whitby, ON; Shawn (Lisa) Wentzell, Halifax; Justin (Julia) Wentzell, Beaver Bank, NS. Sisters Barbara (Terje) Rogers, Caledonia; Carol Shay (Ivan), New Germany; Anne Kempton, Kingston, NS; Virginia Shay (Richard), Oliver BC; Brothers Wesley (Jacki) Shay, Kelowna BC; Barry Shay, Oliver BC; Step daughter Karen (Bob) Paul, Pickering ON. Several nieces and nephews, many grandchildren, two great grandchildren. She was pre deceased by a brother Stephen Shay, and step son Ralph Giffin Jr. Linda graduated from Dalhousie University in 1991, with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Psychology/Biology. She was the Regional Human Resources Manager for the Western Regional Health Board. Most recently, Linda was employed as a research and Technical Development Consultant at Halifax Regional Municipality. Linda also held a certification in Mediation, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from St. Mary’s University. Linda was a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. She has left a legacy of generosity, ambition, service, and inner strength. A funeral service will be held Thursday April 26 at 1 pm in the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints, Bridgewater with Bishop Nathan Baines officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday April 25 from 7-9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, York St. Bridgewater. In lieu of donations, flowers are greatly appreciated. Burial will follow in South Brookfield Union Cemetery, South Brookfield. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
