Obituary of Mary Emma Barkhouse

Mary Ema Barkhouse 95, Nineveh, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in West Clifford, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Sadie (Oickle) Beck. Mary was a mother to her community; she worked for many years along-side her husband with the family business; later on she became a caregiver for many who resided with her. She was a life-long and faithful member of the Gospel Hall, Nineveh. Surviving are daughters, Sadie Barkhouse, Halifax; Margaret (Eric) Fowler, Lanse au Loup, Labrador; Bertha Barkhouse, Nineveh; Norma (Kevin) Woodworth, Watford; sons, Bruce, Wileville; George (Elizabeth), Tatamagouche; Thomas (Linda), Newcombville; Timothy (Judy), Sarnia, Ont.; James, Nineveh; grandchildren, Melodie, Melinda, Marcus, Harold, Mary, Zachary, Austin, Ramona, Rebecca, Ruthann, David, Daniel, Joseph, Bethany, Sarah, Robert, William, Timothy Jr., Naomi, Rachel, Vasthi, Jonathan, Josiah; many great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Harold Arthur Barkhouse; daughter, Nancy Ann; son, David; daughter in law, Gwen; sisters, Evelyn Hebb, Beatrice Henley, Ruby Crouse, Marjorie Kaulback, Helen Frausell; a brother and granddaughter both in infancy. Visitation, 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Sunday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service 2 p.m., Monday in Bridgewater United Church. Mr. Robert McIlwaine and Mr. James McClelland officiating. Burial will follow in the Gospel Hall Cemetery, Nineveh.
