Obituary of Lucy Pauline Barry

Lucy Pauline (Demone) Barry Bridgewater, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in Orchard Court, Kentville on January 11, 2013. Born in First South, Lucy was the daughter of the late Capt. Harry and Gertrude (Demone) Demone. Lucy worked in several Bridgewater stores during her career, including Charm Jewellry where she achieved many sales awards. In later years she enjoyed walking her dog Benji, and daily trips to “Timmies” to share a coffee and laughs with her sister and friends. She was a treasure trove of colourful old expressions delivered with her distinctive accent. When her illness forced her into long-term care, she maintained her style, feisty temperament and sense of humour as long as she could. Lucy is survived by her brother, Earl (Rena) Demone and sister Marie Nauss; several nieces and nephews including special niece, Sharon Nauss-Hughes (Mike Hughes). She was predeceased by sister, Isabel Varner, and husband Dalton Barry. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Lucy’s wishes were to have a private graveside ceremony for family at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Donations can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia.
