Obituary of Yvonne Hope Burns

Yvonne Hope "Bonnie" Burns 93, Barss Corner, Lunenburg Co, passed away on July 23, 2013 in Harbour View Haven Nursing Home, where she had been residing. Bonnie was born in 1920, the daughter of the late Ralph and Hope (Arenburg) DeLong, formerly of Union Square. In 1947, she married Garnet Burns and set up homes in several areas of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Newfoundland and Ontario due to armed forces postings. For 25 years, the winter months were enjoyed in the south of USA, returning to their retirement home in Barss Corner for the warmer months. Bonnie leaves to mourn her husband of 66 years, Garnet; daughter, Sherry (Bev) Gauthier, Amherstview, Ont; grand-daughter, Nikki, Kingston; grandson, Brad, Alberta; nephew, Reid (Eleanor) DeLong, Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Arlee (Myra) DeLong. The family wishes to thank the girls from Care Choices, Home Care, the staff at Harbour View Haven, Drumlin Hills and especially, Dorothy Robar and Brenda Russell for all their loving care given to Mom over the past years. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A public graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 29 in Barss Corner Community Cemetery, Barss Corner. A reception will follow in the Barss Corner Community Hall, Barss Corner. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the Barss Corner Community Cemetery.
