Obituary of Capt. James Scott Crouse

Capt. James Scott Crouse 87 of Conquerall Bank, Lunenburg Co. passed away on Thursday 13 June 2013 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Conquerall Bank, he was the son of the late James and Nellie (Dalrymple) Crouse. James is survived by his daughter Sharon (Paul) Griffiths, Williamswood; son Michael Crouse (Bonnie), Conquerall Bank; sisters Vera Jackson, Bridgewater; Grace (Linburn) Crouse, Charleston; brother Roy (Carolyn) Crouse, Pleasantville; grandchildren Justin Crouse Conquerall Bank ,Ellen and Ben Griffiths, Williamswood, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Patience “Pat”& Brother in law Carl Jackson. At the young age of 17, Jamie started going to sea as a merchant marine and in 1956 he married his wife Pat. They moved to Portland Maine where Jamie worked on the Shell tankers. They moved back to Conquerall Bank where he worked with the Canadian Coast Guard eventually going on to become a captain. He became a harbour pilot in 1969 then moved to Halifax with his family in 1970. There he continued working as a harbour pilot retiring in 1992. Jamie and Pat then moved back to Conquerall Bank where he started his business buying real estate and turning them into rental properties. Jamie joined the Masons and enjoyed his retirement years but his love for working never stopped. He had a strong passion for the stock market buying and selling stock became a way of life. Prior to his death Jamie was still running his company and trading stock. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Monday 17 June in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and from where the funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday 18 June, Rev. Paul Jensen Officiating. A private family interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only, please.
