Obituary of William Charles Drew

William Charles (Bill) Drew It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Drew from Upper Branch, Lunenburg Co., NS. He passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at the SSRH. Bill was born in Bridgewater on Feb. 29, 1940. He was the son of the late Seth and Melita (Beeler) Drew. He was a faithful member, Elder and interim Board of Director for the Native Council of Nova Scotia Zone 5. Bill proudly served in the Canadian forces for 17 years in the Black Watch unit. He received the Canadian Forces Decoration and the United Nations Emergency Forces Medal for his peace keeping service in Egypt. He had 52 years of active service in the Royal Canadian Legion. Bill Spent many years managing Superior T.V. in Dartmouth. He devoted his retirement time to assisting abused animals with the SPCA and going to flea markets across Nova Scotia. Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia (Conrad), daughters, Wendy Dodge (Billy) and Belinda Mickie of Bridgewater; Sons, William (Kathy) of Dartmouth and John (Kendra) Ontario; grandchildren Nicholas, Sarah, Kayla, Dustin, Austin and Bailey; great grandson Aiden; sisters, Carol Veinot, Hemford, Iris Gervais (John) Quebec; brothers, Gerald (Cathy), Ontario, Donald (Susan) , Halifax; nephews; nieces; cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by brother Robert (Bob) and sister Patricia Fielding. Memorial Service: ­3:00 pm Sunday (Jan. 20) at New Canada United Baptist Church, 2935 Lower Branch Road, New Canada. Rev. Robert Gates and Armand Hurt De Grenier officiating. Reception to follow at Branch LaHave Community Hall, Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Native Council of N.S., Zone 5 or any charity of choice. Special thanks to the caring doctors and nurses in the ICU at South Shore Regional Hospital.
