David Smith Gilmour
A Vet, age 92 of Bridgewater, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1921, he was the son of the late James and Sophia (Colville) Gilmour. Survived by his wife of 67 years Mary (Room), Bridgewater; daughters, Susan Harris, Moncton; Patricia Freeman, Bridgewater; Dawn (Wade) Jollymore, Wileville. 8 Grandchildren: Mary (Louis), Lawana, David (Katherine), Michael (Tammy), Ian (Natasha), Laura (Dany), Leah & Anna. 8 Great Grandchildren: Brian, Daniel, Adriane, Claire, Chase, Ronan, Hannah, Brooklyn & Matthew. 3 Great-great Grandchildren: Grayson, Amethyst & Sapphire. David served in the RAF during WW2 and went on to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces and worked at Michelin. He was a scout leader for 60 years; spent many hours sharpening skates; coaching, volunteering at the hospital and Legion Sick and Visiting; driving vehicles for local car dealers; and scroll sawing. Visitation will at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Thursday, August 1st from 7 to 9 pm with a legion tribute service starting at 7pm, a memorial Service at Sweeny's Funeral Home on Friday, August 2nd at 2 pm. Rev. Willis Ott Officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
