Obituary of Gregory Robert Lewis
Gregory Robert Lewis
Age 19 of Bridgewater, NS, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Tuesday 21 May, 2013, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, two months after being diagnosed with leukaemia. Born in Corner Brook, NL, March 25, 1994, Greg moved to Ottawa with his family when he was three months old and then to Nova Scotia in December 1997 and lived in Bridgewater since 2001. Greg is survived by his parents Robert and Debbie (Reid) Lewis of Bridgewater; his brother Ryan, Bridgewater; maternal grandparents Douglas and Bess Reid of NL; paternal grandmother Marlene Lewis of BC; Aunt Michelle Reid of AB, Uncle Todd Reid (Jennifer) and cousin Charlotte of NL; Uncle Rick Lewis (Barbara) and cousins Meagan and Andrew of BC; and "Hank" the cat! He is also survived by a large extended family throughout Canada. Greg always had an idea ready, his ability to create could be adapted to any situation. He was a thinker, always moving to the beat of his own drum, he preferred to find his own way when doing something or finding an interest, which changed almost daily. This was evident in his vast collection of yellow clothing, his unique selection of souvenirs that he would personally select on vacations taken with his family, a sombrero purchased in Mexico that he insisted on wearing back on the plane and his strange selection of pets such as Angelina the ball python and "Hank" the cat. Greg's smile, always hiding a joke fostered from his dry sense of humour, just waiting to come out at the appropriate moment, will be so dearly missed. The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff and Dr. S Shivakumar of 8A at the VG in Halifax. There will be no visitation or service by request. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Greg's memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, Atlantic Canada Region, 1660 Hollis St., Suite H2 Halifax, N.S. B3J 1V7. Greg's family would like to ask everyone to please consider making blood donations and also consider joining a Bone Marrow Registry.
