Karl Richard MacKay
88, Upper Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper Northfield, he was a son of the late Locke and Lucy (Silver) MacKay. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Canada, UK, Northwest and Europe. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 102, New Germany. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Varner) MacKay; step daughter, Linda (John) Mordeen, Chester; step sons, James (Annette) Conrad, Watford; Barry Conrad, Bridgewater; step grandchildren, Jeff Mordeen, Holly Conrad and Devin Conrad; step great grandchildren, Aleena, Bradley and Archer; four nieces. He was predeceased by step son, Randolph Conrad; sister, Grace Penney; brothers, Ira MacKay and George MacKay. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Service 11 a.m., Wednesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Rev. Catharine House officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Upper Northfield. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
