Obituary of Russell Lewis Orchard

Russell Lewis Orchard It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of our husband and father, Russell Lewis Orchard, 87 of Bridgewater, on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Hillside Pines Nursing Home, Bridgewater, where he had been residing and currently reining as prom King. Born February 13, 1925 in Yarmouth, he was the son of the late Otis and Ethel (Rapp) Orchard. He was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge; lifetime member of the Lions Club and was formerly involved as member and elder of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg. Russell was a well respected and a longtime volunteer in his community. He enjoyed bowling with the local seniors club. He was a telegrapher for CN Railway for 34 years and then went to work for Superior Propane until retiring. He was always seen as a polite and caring gentleman and was a truly devoted and loving man to his wife and children. Surviving are his wife, Lillian (Berringer) Orchard, Bridgewater; daughters, Vicki (Brian) Snyder, Bridgewater; Peggy Theriault (Ken Forward), Bridgewater; sons, Terry (Aldenia) Orchard, Ottawa; Michael (Krista) Orchard, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Taylor Snyder, Dustin Snyder, Nigel Theriault, Aaron Orchard, Thomas Orchard, Joshua Orchard, Jared Orchard; brother and sister in law, Pauline and Harry Keats, Kitchener, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Visitation, 7-9 p.m., Friday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where a Masonic tribute service will be at 6:45 p.m. with funeral service to follow, 2 p.m., Saturday. Pastor Bethe Benjamin-Cameron officiating. Private interment in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Hillside Pines Nursing Home or charity of choice.
