Obituary of Ruth Eleanor Sigrist

Ruth Eleanor (nee Delany) Sigrist Of Bridgewater, passed away suddenly at home on April 6th 2013. Born in Halifax on August 19 1936 she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Margaret (Nicholson) Delany. Ruth was a graduate of Saint John High, and Modern Business College. She was employed by the Federal Civil Service while in Dartmouth and by the South Shore Board of Education after moving to Bridgewater. During her first few years of marriage she moved many times, including 8 years in England and Scotland with her naval husband Jerry. Ruth is survived by her husband Jerry Sigrist, Bridgewater, daughter Cathy Sigrist, Bridgewater, son Michael (Noreen) Sigrist, Dartmouth, son in-law Terry Rideout, St. John’s NL. Sister Mary Fleming, Ottawa. Brother In-law Donald (Betty) Sigrist, Manitoulin Island, ON. 6 Grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) St-Germain, Trenton, ON; Adam Sigrist, Halifax; Andrea Sigrist, Dartmouth; Rebecca Sigrist, Dartmouth; Matthew Rideout, St. John’s NL; Tyler Rideout, Halifax. Two Great granddaughters, Olivia and Hayley St-Germain both of Ontario. Many nieces and nephews in Ontario and Alberta. Besides her parents Ruth was predeceased by a daughter Carolyn Rideout. Ruth was very proud of her family and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. Ruth was a cherished wife, mom, nanny Sigrist, and will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. There will not be any visiting at the funeral home by request. A memorial service will be Saturday April 13th at 2pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater with Rev. Alvin Westgate officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date in St. John, NB. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Lupus Society of Nova Scotia. On line condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
