Obituary of Arlene Catherine Snyder

Arlene Catherine (nee Sarty) Snyder One month short of her 91st birthday, Arlene passed away at Hillside Pines Nursing Home, Bridgewater on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. She lived most of her life in Pleasantville, moving to Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay in January 2012 and then to Hillside Pines, Bridgewater, in May 2012. Arlene enjoyed working in her gardens, being especially proud of her apple and plum trees and had a love for animals, particularly cats. She also appreciated her property on the LaHave River and looking out at the river. Arlene was lucky to have received help over the years in caring for her property from Wade Corkum. Regina Dixon was also very special to Arlene as Regina made herself available to do so many errands for her. Arlene appreciated the great care over the years from Dr. Greg Jansen. Thanks also to the nursing homes where wonderful TLC was provided to Arlene. Surviving are her son, Ron (Bev), Middle Sackville; grandson, Alan (Anne Marie), Eastern Passage; many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late William and Esther (Neal) Sarty; she was predeceased by her husband, Roy and son, Leigh; her siblings, Florence Corkum, Geneva Lockhart, Grace Cameron, Viola Bond, Leah Randall, Reta Bustin and Willard Sarty. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visiting at 1 p.m., Sunday, September 29 in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Rev. Norman Hovland officiating. Private family interment will follow in Pleasantville Cemetery, Pleasantville. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
