Obituary of Alexander G. Tattersall
Alexander "Tony" Gordon Tattersall
93, of Pleasantville Lunenburg Co. passed away Wednesday 17 April, 2013 in the Veteran’s Unit at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Todmorden, England, he was the son of the late Arnold and Elsie (Holroyd) Tattersall. Tony was a veteran of World War 2 having served in the British Army, Captain of the Royal Corps of Signals until July 1946. He served on the police force in England thereafter before moving to Canada where he was appointed to Lieutenant, Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in January 1952. Tony became a Canadian citizen on September 13, 1956. He worked on the Ontario Provincial Police in St. Catherine’s Ontario for some time. For many years he was a GM of an Automotive Parts Distributor and VP of Best Financial Services until his retirement. Tony then moved to the South Shore in October 1983 and worked as the Administrator of the Lunenburg Medical Centre well into his eighties before completely retiring Tony is survived by his wife Ruth; daughters Suzanne Tattersall, Toronto Ontario; Barbara-Anne (Brad) Darling and granddaughters, Zoe and Rachel of Minnesota, USA. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday 22 April in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, Fr. Alvin Westgate officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Veteran’s Unit at Fisherman’s Memorial hospital, Lunenburg.
