Harris Arthur Turner
80, West Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Born, November 8, 1932 in West Northfield, he was a son of the late John Arnold and Linda Blanche (Bruhm) Turner. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, West Northfield; member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 24, Bridgewater; director of the Nova Scotia Forest Products Association; member of the MicMac Rod and Gun Club and Bridgewater hand Gun Club; former member of the Bridgewater Rifle Club. An ardent angler and lover of nature, he was president of Harris A. Turner Construction and Forest Products Limited and vice president of Turner and Turner Lumber Limited. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Genevieve “GG” (Gidney) Turner; daughter, Karen Ann (Gary) Zinck; sons, John Harris (Heather) Turner; grandchildren, Krista Dawn (Turner) Wilson, Natasha Ann Turner, Mark Gary (Tracy) Zinck, Brent Alan (Erin) Zinck, Erin Lynn (Charles) Joudrey; great grandchildren, Kaleigh Elizabeth Wilson, Winston John Allister Wilson, Ethan Brent Zinck; brother, Owen (Olive) Turner. Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m., Wednesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. A celebration of Life for Harris A. Turner will be 2 p.m., Thursday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. Rev. Catharine House officiating. A private family interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, West Northfield or Northfield and District Fire Department or charity of choice.
