VARNER, Byron Jordan- 65 of Barss Corner; It is with sadness and deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of Byron on Sunday August 18, 2013 in Barss Corner. Byron spent the last hours doing what he loved most, flying his plane over the land that he loved. He was a son of the late Milton and Marie (Pierce) Varner, and is survived by his life partner Marilyn, Sister Beth; Brother Greg (Krista); beloved children Troy (Trisha); Trudi; Tracey (John); Trevour (Twyla). 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Byron is also survived by stepchildren. Rick (Sue); Michelle (Doug); Jacqueline (Ron); Michael (Angela). 5 step grandchildren, and last but not least, his beloved canine sidekick Varney. Byron loved music, trains, planes, and road running. As a teenager, Byron was an active Air Cadet and earned his pilot’s license at the age of 17. By the time he retired, Byron held both a Canadian and American pilot license, and was happy to be a member of the New Germany Flying Club. In his youth, Byron was part of a rock band called the Barracudas, and they were proud to represent the Maritimes at Expo 67 in Montreal. He spent 32 years at Michelin in Bridgewater retiring in 2004. Byron enjoyed every moment of retirement life traveling the world, but always returning to his beloved Lunenburg County, and the Good Life Farm. As well, Byron owned and operated B. Varner Pools, and worked hard for his clients in Halifax, and Lunenburg Counties. Byron’s light shone brightly. We will all miss his quick smile, his boyish sense of wonder, his inquisitive mind, and his great big heart.
