Age 83 passed away Wednesday 12 June 2013 in Northwood Manor, Halifax. Born on Bush Island, Lunenburg County, he was a son of late Robert “Wellsley” and Mable Elizabeth (Hirtle) Wambolt. He retired as Millwright from Scott Paper in 1989, subsequently travelling as fulltime RVers for ten years wintering in Florida, Arizona and Texas. Mel was an avid fisherman and could fix “anything”. He spent many hours in his garage and later with the hood of his truck up in campgrounds where people met to compare notes and brag. Mel spent many enjoyable hours operating his CB Radio Club with over 1,000 members worldwide. A very special thanks and heartfelt blessings to our medical and patient “family” at the Dickson Centre’s 6th floor Home and Hemodialysis Centre’s who cheered on and cared for Mel for fifteen years. His last days were also blessed by being on the 11th floor of Northwood Manor where he passed peacefully in the presence of caring and wonderful people. There are not enough words to praise everyone who cared for Mel all these years.
