Ivan S. Deveau
A “Celebration of Life Service” will be Saturday October 18, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Bridgewater Curling Club, Bridgewater.
63 of Bridgewater passed away Sunday September 21st in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Digby, he was the son of Herald and Nora (Atwood) Deveau. Ivan worked with the Regional Development Agency (R.D.A) in Bridgewater as a business councillor. Ivan retired from the Canadian Military in 1994 as Warrant Officer after 25 years of service. An avid curler you could always find Ivan at the Bridgewater Curling Club on the ice with his team (s), or watching the games from behind the glass. Ivan was a Past President of the Bridgewater Curling Club. Ivan lead his curling team to two provincial curling titles in the Provincial Royal Canadian Legion Curling Championships then he and his team went off to two nationals. When Ivan wasn’t curling you could find him on the golf course, where he loved to golf with his friend at the Old Towne Golf and Country Club in Bridgewater. Whenever there was a family gathering, you would find Ivan behind the barbeque cooking everything the family wanted. He enjoyed spending any free time with his grandchildren. Both he and his wife Lydia enjoyed travelling to the warmer climates on cruises to the Caribbean, or down south. Besides his parents, Ivan leaves to mourn his wife Lydia (Hiscock), Bridgewater. Three sons; Scott, Bridgewater; Paul, Victoria BC; Mark (Melissa Sawler), Newburne NS. Two siblings; sister, Connie (Robert) Winters, Liverpool, brother Art (Gale) Deveau, Hunts Point. Grandchildren, Matthew and Damien Deveau, both of Victoria BC; Skye and Noah Deveau, both of Newburne, NS; Step granddaughter Erin Kay, Victoria BC. Seven nieces and nephews; Troy (Heidi) Winters, Ottawa; Amanda Oickle (Steven), Liverpool; Todd (Lori)Deveau, Conquerall Bank; Colin (Melissa) Deveau, Bridgewater; Tamara Hiscock, Toronto, ON; Thomas Hiscock, Timmons ON; Troy Hiscock, Toronto, ON. Ivan was predeceased by his grandparents. Funeral arrangements for a celebration of Ivan’s life are incomplete at this time. If one chooses to make a memorial donation in Ivan’s name, you can make it to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of one’s choice.
