Raeburn Douglas Feener
89, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. He was surrounded by loving family members and supported by Rosedale staff, whom he had come to regard as his family for the past three years. Born in Farmington, he was the son of the late Mark and Frances (Veinot) Feener. During his working years, he was employed with Bowater Mersey, first as a cutter in the woodlands and then as a scaler and foreman at the Oakhill sawmill and lumberyard. Raeburn was an avid woodsman where he enjoyed spending time at his woodlot and hunting camp. Raeburn was a family first man, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are his cherished wife of 51 years, Margaret (Crouse) Feener; daughter, JoAnne Barry, New Germany; son, Michael Feener, Halifax; grandchildren, Kelsey, Zachary, Maxxim, Katlyn, Alana and Caleb; brother, Robert Feener, Farmington. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Dianne Frances as well as sister, Clare Morton; brother, Lawrence Feener; and son in law, Paul Barry. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Service 11 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 in Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany. Rev. David Whynot officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Trinity church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rosedale Home for Special Care Van Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
