Obituary of William Edwin Hebb

William Edwin (Bill) Hebb Age 85, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully January 29, 2014, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Lunenburg on September 17, 1928 he was the youngest son of the late Edwin and Muriel Hebb. Bill was highly regarded in municipal government having served as Town Clerk and Treasurer for the towns of Annapolis Royal, Middleton and Bridgewater where he retired in 1988. Bill was a very active outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and garden during his days in the Valley and was always an avid golfer and curler until recent years. Bill was passionate about the saltwater and could be seen at the many South Shore beaches swimming from early June until late September. He and Joan spent many sunny days at Bachman's Beach enjoying the sun, surf and company of their regular beach friends. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Areta Calkin; sons Peter (Sandra) of Middleton, Nova Scotia, Richard (Deanna) of Barrie, Ontario and John (Linda) of Barrie, Ontario; grandsons Marc, Mitchell and Jason all of whom he was very proud. Bill is also survived by his brother Donald and his children Lynn and Bruce. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 2 from 7 to 9 PM at Sweeney's funeral home in Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 3 at 11 AM at the Bridgewater United Church. A private family interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
