Obituary of Shirley Marion H. Himmelman

Shirley Marion Helen Himmelman Age 82, of Crousetown, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Crousetown, she was the daughter of the late J. Edson and Helen (Vogler) Oxner. A lifelong resident of Crousetown, in her earlier years she was a member of the local Women’s Institute, the ladies’ sewing circle and a supporter of other community organizations. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Crousetown. She had been a devoted Sister and Past Noble Grand of Turquoise Rebekah Lodge #132, Petite Riviere, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant (LAPM). She had a passion for excellence and perfection in her gardens, sewing and other handwork. Surviving are son Terrance (Gail Schnare), daughter Judith (Robert) Croft, both of Crousetown; granddaughter Julianne Croft; great-grandchildren Abigayle and Gabe Heim; former husband Gerald Himmelman. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 25, 11 a.m., in St. Andrew’s United Church, Crousetown, with Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Private family interment will follow in the Crousetown Community Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only.
