Obituary of Sheldon Allen Mailman

Sheldon Allen Mailman Age 83, Lake Pleasant, Annapolis Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Middleton, he was the son of the late Burpee and Elsie (Allen) Mailman. Sheldon was retired from a career as a truck mechanic and plant manager of South Shore Ready Mix and Bridgewater Ready Mix, while residing and raising a family in Bridgewater. Upon retirement, Sheldon remodeled his cottage at Lake Pleasant into a house where he and his wife Eunice enjoyed a wonderful retirement together close to family and friends. Sheldon was a very jovial, outgoing person who was always concerned for the well being of others. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Viola Guier, formerly of Tiverton, Digby Co.; son, Wayne Mailman, Liverpool; daughters, Mary Lou (Graham) Corkum, Pleasantville; Annette (Jeffrey) Veinot, Springfield; grandchildren, Jason Corkum, Allison Joudrey, Deanna Veinot and Rebecca Veinot; great grandchildren, Landon Joudrey, Riley Corkum; sister, Barbara (Stuart) Rhodenizer, Bridgewater; half sister, Frances Roach, Halifax; brother, Mervin (Lillian) Mailman, Springfield; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by infant son, Richard Dean Mailman; sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Emino; half brother, Ronald Mailman. Visitation 7-9 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral service 2 p.m., Sunday, April 13, in Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield. Rev. Lloyd Gillieo officiating. Family interment in Springfield Baptist Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Springfield and District Fire Hall. Family flowers only please, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield and District Fire Department.
