Obituary of Eugene Reginald Pelkey

FORMER BRIDGEWATER BUSINESSMAN DIES AT AGE 99 Eugene Reginald Pelkey Age 99, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 in the Heart to Heart Rest Home, Chester Basin, where he had been residing for the past 5 years. Born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Beverly and Julia Pelkey. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Later, Eugene owned and operated Pelkey’s Jewellers in Bridgewater for many years. Surviving are his children, Carla Johnson, Ont.; Rhonda (Paul) Hoadley, Ont.; Greg (Gail) Pelkey, Bridgewater; Erik Pelkey, Halifax; brothers, Edward Pelkey, Ont.; Goldwin Pelkey, Alb.; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former, Marilyn Whynot; sisters, Marjorie and Freda and a brother in infancy. Service of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Woodstock, New Brunswick.
