Obituary of Lily Louisa Russell

Lily Louisa Russell It is with heartfelt sadness we mourn the passing of Lily Louisa Russell (Wile) on Wednesday October 1st, 2014 at the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Born in 1914, (18 days short of her 100th birthday) she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elmeda (Tufts) Wile. Despite her failing health and age, Lily was always a kind, compassionate and loving lady. Children, particularly her grandchildren, were the joy of her life. Lily also loved her son in laws as her own. She lived all her married life in Hemford where she was an active community member and a faithful member of the church choir until her move to the Rosedale Home for Special Care at age 95. She is sadly missed by son, Harry (Marguerite); daughters Helen (Basil), Yvonne (Basil), Mildred, Shirley (Rod), Janice (Jerry); and daughter-in-law Kaye. Also deeply saddened are her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Also left to mourn are sisters Emily, Laverne, Shirley and brother, Berlyn. She was predeceased by her husband Lester, daughter Margaret Ann, son Mervin and sisters Florence, Ermie and Hilda. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany. There will be no visitation by request. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday October 4 in Emmanuel United Church, Hemford, Pastor Beth Benjamin-Cameron officiating. A private family burial will follow in the Hemford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany; The Ark, Bridgewater; Emmanuel United Church, Hemford or the charity of choice.
