Obituary of Louise Leona Sawler
Louise Leona (Reeves) Sawler
90, of Maplewood, Lunenburg County, passed away on Monday February 10, 2014 in South Shore regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born April 4, 1923 in Cambridge, Kings County, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Viola Louise (Angevine) Reeves. She is survived by daughters, Erma Blenus, Coldbrook; Mabel (Darrell) Chambers, Meisner’s Section; Julieann (Bill) Russell, New Germany, Eva Rose (Henry Acker) Sawler, Springfield and sons, Emery (Carolyn Brown), Springfield; Alonzo (Lonnie) (Christine), Wilmot; Ernest (Ernie) (Kim), Wilmot, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sawler, Bridgewater, 20 grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, sister, June Goucher, New Minas, brother, Rupert Reeves, Cambridge, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Edith (1963), son, Scott (2010), son-in-law, Carl Blenus (2004), daughter-in-law Shirley Sawler (2008), grandsons, Jamie Prall (1988), Craig (Coleman) Sawler (2011), Michael Blenus (2012), granddaughter, Stephine Acker (1980), brothers, Kenneth (1976), David (1958), sister, Ann Leslie (2003) and parents. Mom worked hard to provide for her nine children. She planted a large vegetable garden, picked berries, fruit, etc - storage shelves were lined with homemade preserves, pickles, jams, canned vegetables, etc. Her passion was fishing - for the sport and the catch - she would spend hours fishing the streams for trout and enjoyed the scenery and nature along the way. If there wasn’t any of her children or grandchildren to join her, she would take her dog for company. Mom was a kind and generous soul - visitors (friends or family) upon leaving were gifted with jams, pickles, baked goods, or fresh veggies from her garden, etc. Her second passion was gardening - planting, caring for, harvesting and processing - hard work but fun and rewarding was her comment. She would want to thank the residents of Maplewood/Parkdale for receiving her so graciously when she moved there some twenty-five years ago. She enjoyed membership in the Women’s Institute and participating in the various activities at the Community Centre and Museum and the fellowship and friendships that developed. She would write stories/poems for or about the events to share -such as the Institute’s Valentine’s Day celebration. Thank you to those who cared for Mom during her time at South Shore Hospital and Harbour View Haven. We love you and miss you Mom; thank you for loving us. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday February 14 at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany.
