Obituary of Harold Wilson Selig

Harold Wilson Selig 84 of Middle Sackville, formerly of Wileville, Lunenburg Co., passed away Friday August 1, 2014 in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Maynard and Ruth (Jefferson) Selig. Harold is survived by his sons Kevin (Peter) Selig, Middle Sackville; grandson, Nigel (Preety) and great granddaughter, Leyla, Ottawa; granddaughter, Julia, Victoria, BC; son, Trevor (Angie), and grandson, Bryden, all of Maitland; sister Norma (Ron) Scott, New Germany; Wilfred (Arleen) Selig, Oakhill along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Nora Alice (Wile); sisters Helen and Marjorie; brothers, Stanley, Keith, St. Clair and Arthur. Harold was a well-known businessman for over 50 years. He enjoyed many hours of gardening from which he received much pleasure and happiness. He was always witty, and had a great sense of humor. He always had a joke or a story to tell which brought much laughter. DAD will be greatly missed! Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the 3rd and 5th floor units (IMCU/ICU) of the Halifax Infirmary for the compassion shown during his time in hospital. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. There will be no visitation by request and a public graveside service will be held for both Harold and his wife Nora, who passed away on January 12, 2014. Nora is survived by brother Garnet (Jan) Wile, Middle LaHave. The service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Rev. Kevin Little officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in Harold’s memory may be made to the St. Andrew’s United Church in Halifax, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of choice.
