Obituary of Norman Douglas Thornhill

Norman Douglas Thornhill Age 77, of Rhodes Corner passed away peacefully on December 8th 2014 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Norman was born in Halifax, February 25th 1937. Norman spent his working years at the Halifax Dockyards and Goodwear Treaders. He enjoyed his youth playing softball. In his later years he was most happy playing games with his grandchildren, complaining about the weather no matter what it was, tending to yard work around the house year-round, and watching hockey on Saturday nights. He was known well to friends and family as the Mayor of Rhodes Corner. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine nee Wournell; sisters May Burgess, Lil Nelson; his children, Stephen (Kelly) Thornhill, Christine (Blaine) Herman, Kathy (Jon) Sutton, Tracey (Paul) Tanner, Daniel (Nancy) Thornhill; the grandchildren he was so proud of; Beth-Ann, Shae, Jenna, Delaney, Kennedy Thornhill; Kirk Herman; Courtney, Patrick, Christopher Sutton; Allie, Codey, Logan Tanner; Brody, and Owen Thornhill; 3 great grandchildren. Norman was predeceased by parents John and Alice (nee Lawrence) Thornhill, sisters Freda Raymond, and Anne Eisener, brothers Alex, Gerald, and 3 sisters in infancy. Cremation has taken place and a private family service and interment to be done at a later date. Memorial donations in Norman’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
