Obituary of Florence Isabel Veinot

Florence Isabel Veinot Age 94, of West Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Born in Lower Northfield on May 30, 1920, she was the daughter of Jacob and Bessie (Wagner) Oickle and later married Clarence Veinot. Together they lived in the Annapolis Valley before returning to settle in West Northfield where she raised their family, dug in her gardens, made the best bread in town, relaxed through quilting and enjoyed many hands of 45s. She was an active member of her community and church parish, even knitting teddy bears for charitable organizations. Florence’s inspiration was her family and she was truly loved. Always ready to offer a homemade meal, she was able to create the tastiest creations in no time. Sunday night dinners were commonplace and her turkey dressing is still infamous with the tradition living on with her granddaughters who were taught under her strict guidance. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Marilyn; brothers, Wallace, Oswald and sisters, Elsie, Ivy, Hazel and Leda. She is survived by her sons, Keith (Sandie); Philip (Donna); son in law, Gerald Carron; grandchildren, Andre (Laurie), Jeanette, Nicole (Troy), Errin (Evan), Jennifer (Jason) and Christopher (Katie); great grandchildren, Hayden, Juniper and Quinn. Out of Nannie’s love for her family, a cherished family cottage was created, where together we have gathered since 1978 and her memory will live on with each bonfire, planked salmon and sunset. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, December 8 in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, West Northfield. Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Private family interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Family flowers only please.
