Obituary of Alvin George Weagle

Alvin George Weagle Weagle, Alvin George - We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. Alvin George Weagle (81 yrs.) passed away September 15th in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG. He was the only son of the late Joseph and Ella (Nee Naugler). He fought the battle and now will allow his faith to guide him. Alvin was a friend to everyone, whether it was on the golf course, having coffee at the mall, chatting with neighbors at the lake or enjoying time with his grandchildren, at the cottage he built on Big Lake Mushamush. He was born and raised in Conquerall Bank. As a young man he worked sailing the great lakes (eventually becoming a marine engineer), where he had the opportunity to meet his future wife in Montreal. With the start of his family he obtained shore work, as a stationary engineer, first at the Dawson Memorial Hospital in Bridgewater, and then with DND at CFS Mill Cove for 27 years. He was an honorary member of the Conquerall Bank Fire Department and a member of the FSNA Association. Throughout his life he remained a member of St. Augustine's Anglican church in Conquerall Bank, later becoming a member of Holy Trinity Anglician Church in Bridgewater, and a member of the Men`s Club. He retired in 1994 but nothing could slow him down. He was a devoted husband and dedicated family man. He could fix anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Kate (Mullin), his son Michael (Andrea) and daughters Kelly (Ken Poole) and Karen (Bill Sheridan) all of the Halifax area. His grandchildren are Christopher and Alexandra Poole, Jessica and Justin Weagle and Allyshia and Liam Sheridan. He is also survived by foster brother Norman (Nacy) Duncan. He was a much loved uncle to many. He was predeceased by sister Marion Burns. Visitation will take place at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater on Friday September 19th from 7 to 9 pm. A service to celebrate Alvin's life will take place on Saturday, September 20th at 11:00 am, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 78 Alexandra Ave. Bridgewater. Reverend Alvin Westgate and Reverend Fran Boutlier will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Leaf Cemetery in Conquerall Bank. A Reception will be held in the church hall following the interment. In the final years of his life he was seen by many health care professionals in Bridgewater and Halifax. The family most sincerely thanks them for the tremendous empathy they bring to their jobs. In their moment of sadness the family, is comforted by a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.
