Obituary of Florence Mary Acker
Florence Mary Acker
Age 73, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 after a lengthy illness in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born and raised in North River, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary (Sarty) Robar. When Florence married her husband, Merlin, she moved to Springfield where they raised their own family. She continued to live there until the late 90’s when she moved to Bridgewater. Florence was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater and formerly of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North River. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and had worked for several years for Suttles and Seawinds of New Germany. Florence loved to socialize, if it was playing cards or going to a dance, she always demonstrated her spirit of life; she always had a positive attitude. She was a loving and caring mother to her children, Garth (Heather) Acker, Edmonton; Angela (Charles) Doucette, Hubley and Nadine (John) Weagle, Pinegrove; she loved her grandchildren, DeAnna Acker, Nathan and Sarah Doucette, Bailey and Morgan Weagle. She was a sister to Esther Robar (Gordon Mader), Bridgewater; Janet (Donald) Doucette and Paul (Judy) Robar, all of North River; also surviving are her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Merlin Edwin Acker; sister, Ruth Veinot; brother, Marcus Robar and a nephew, Adam Doucette. Visitation for family and friends will be held 7-9 p.m., Sunday, November 1 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, November 2 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 25 Phoenix Street, Bridgewater, with Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Springfield. Flowers are accepted. Donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North River, Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
