Obituary of Stanley Henry Bolivar

Stanley Henry Bolivar Age 90 of Conquerall Mills. It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Stanley on Wednesday May 13, 2015 in South Shore Regional Hospital, surrounded by those who loved him. Born in Waterloo, on Sept. 9th, 1924, he was the eldest son of the late Emanuel and Elsie May (Stewart) Bolivar. As a young man Stanley worked as a blacksmith and served with the 20th Field Company Reserve, Royal Canadian Engineers during WWII. He was a power plant operator for the Town of Bridgewater and later joined the Nova Scotia Power Corporation, retiring in 1989. Stanley was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and smoked his catch in his carefully tended little smokehouse. He loved hunting, trapping, and logging. He was a licensed hunting guide, who loved to tell fishing and hunting stories to everyone he met. Stanley also loved his small farm, where he raised Black Angus cattle and grew large vegetable gardens, often giving away far more produce than he kept for himself. Above all, Stanley was a true family man and friend, whose loyalty and devotion will be remembered by all. Stanley is survived by his wife of 70 years Phyllis; daughter Valerie Jean (Kevin Manley) Bolivar, New York, USA; sister Pauline Himmelman-Richard, Pleasantville, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his younger brother Alvin. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Sunday May 17 in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday May 18th, also in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Rev. Catharine House officiating. A private family interment will follow in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Conquerall Mills. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
