Obituary of Margery Arlene Cook
Margery Arlene (Lohnes) Cook
Mother of Peggy Smith ( Paul ), widow of Donald Gordon Cook, closed her eyes for the final time on June 3, 2015, at the age of 83. Margery was the daughter of Nellie (Penny) and Winslow Lohnes of Upper Northfield. She was predeceased by daughter (Donna), husband, parents, sisters (Helen Silver and Phyllis Joudrey) and brothers (Owen and Lincoln Lohnes ). She is survived by her daughter , son in law, sister in law (Hope Lohnes) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In her healthier years Margery was very active in her church and in her community. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer at the SSRH gift shop. She enjoyed cross country skiing, dancing, fishing and gardening. She enjoyed going for drives especially if it involved a stop for a cone of coffee ice cream. She was an avid quilter and knitter. Many newborns at the SSRH wore one of her baby caps and the hospital gift shop benefited from her knitted baby sets. She also spent hours working with an embroidery needle. Her coffee pot was always on and there was always something yummy in the cupboard. She loved to play cards, especially if she was winning. In her last years health issues controlled her life and she lost so much of what she once valued. The staff at Rosedale were remarkable in their care and kindness. Cremation has taken place and as was Margery's wish there will be no visitation or funeral. A private graveside burial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Society, the Upper Northfield Cemetery, Rosedale Home for Special Care or charity of choice. on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com or by messaging condolences@sweenysfuneralhome.com.
