Obituary of Carl Herman DeLong

Carl Herman DeLong 1935-2015; Absent from the body – present with the Lord. Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., died on Monday, April 20 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Barss Corner, he was a son of the late Herman and Blanche (Risser) DeLong. Carl had a life and passion of farming and has left us with many memories and treasures which is shown in his skilled wood working. He was a member of the Bridgewater Open Bible Church, Bridgewater. Surviving are his loving wife, the former Barbara (Smith) Beck, Bridgewater; loving father to Peggy (Brian), Priscilla (Neil), John (Jocelyn), Christopher (Eren) and grandfather to ten grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, all of Ontario; step children, Larry (Shawn), Shelley (Terry), Joann (Andre); 3 step grandchildren; and his siblings, Vivian, Jean (Carl) and Harry (Pauline); sister in law, Estella DeLong; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Beatrice Sarty; brothers, Vernon, Ottis, Laurie. Visitation, 7-9 p.m., Wednesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Service of Celebration will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 23 in Bridgewater Open Bible Church, Pastor Jeff Woodcock officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Barss Corner Community Cemetery or charity of choice.
