Obituary of Leslie Warren Doane

Leslie "Les" Warren Doane It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Les Doane, age 76, of Cherry Hill, Nova Scotia, on December 28, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Les was the son of the late Warren and Marjorie Doane of Barrington Passage, NS. Over his life, Les was an avid sailor, reader and history buff; however, his greatest passion was his grandchildren and their hockey accomplishments. Les is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Audrey (Atwood) and his daughters Susan (Robert) Steele of Winchester Springs, ON, and Joanne (Peter) van Kessel of Chesterville, ON. He will be dearly missed by his six grandchildren Erica, Warren, and Katherine Steele and Bryden, Laura and Jack van Kessel--all of whom he was exceptionally proud. He is also survived by his sisters Aileen (Pat) Smith of Barrington Passage, Betty (Phil) McCaig of Strathmore, Alberta, and Anne Doane of Barrington Passage, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the SSRH for the excellent care received during his brief stay--the support provided by both Dr. Pugh and the nursing staff was invaluable. In keeping with the wishes of Les, there will be a celebration of his life to be announced at a later date.
